DENVER — Grocery chain ALDI plans to expand into Colorado within the next five years as part of a broader U.S. growth strategy that includes opening more than 180 new stores by the end of 2026.
The company said it plans to open more than 50 stores in the Denver and Colorado Springs markets, supported by a new distribution center in Aurora projected to open in 2029. The Colorado expansion would mark ALDI’s first entry into the state.
Nationwide, ALDI expects to operate nearly 2,800 stores by the end of 2026, moving closer to its goal of 3,200 locations by the end of 2028. The company said continued demand for lower-cost groceries has driven its expansion plans.
ALDI also plans to open three new distribution centers over the next several years, including facilities in Baldwin, Florida in 2027, Goodyear, Arizona in 2028 and Aurora, Colorado in 2029. The company said the facilities are intended to support store growth and supply chain operations.
In addition to physical expansion, ALDI said it will launch a redesigned website in early 2026 to support online shopping, curbside pickup and home delivery. The updated site will include product search tools, nutritional information and meal planning features.
ALDI said delivery partnerships with Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats will continue. The company also plans a packaging update that will place the ALDI name on all private-label products.
The company said it expects to invest $9 billion over five years to expand stores, distribution networks and digital operations.
