BLM seeks comments on 113 Colorado oil and gas parcels for lease sale

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The Bureau of Land Management has opened a 30-day public comment period on 113 oil and gas parcels proposed for a December 2026 in Colorado.

The parcels cover 126,445 acres. Public comments are due Sept. 11.

The BLM completed an initial public review of the parcels in July and will consider additional comments as it completes its .

A lease gives an operator the right to pursue development but does not authorize drilling. Before drilling can begin, an operator must submit a permit application detailing its plans. The BLM then conducts a separate environmental review, provides an opportunity for public input and coordinates with state agencies and other stakeholders.
