Chanda Hinton is the Senior Executive Director of the Chanda Center for Health, where she has spent two decades transforming healthcare access for individuals with long-term physical disabilities. After sustaining a spinal cord injury at age nine, Chanda faced severe health challenges that inspired her to champion integrative therapies like acupuncture, massage and chiropractic care as preventive solutions for secondary conditions.
In 2005, she founded what is now the Chanda Center for Health, which has grown into a comprehensive facility offering primary care, behavioral health, physical therapy, adaptive yoga and care coordination. Her vision ensures that individuals with spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida and brain injuries can access holistic care without the burden of financial barriers.
Chanda’s policy leadership led to the passage of Colorado House Bill 1047 in 2009, creating the Spinal Cord Injury Waiver that allowed Medicaid to cover integrative therapies in Denver. In 2021, she expanded this coverage statewide through the CIH Waiver, extending services to more diagnoses and more people.
In the past year, Chanda advanced a statewide partnership with Palco to deliver remote integrative therapies to people living more than 30 miles from the Lakewood clinic. She also led a successful campaign to pay off the Center’s mortgage, raising over $400,000 to expand services.
Her work has earned honors including Denver Business Journal’s 40 under 40 and the Colorado Women’s Chamber Top 25 Powerful Women. Chanda’s leadership and advocacy continue to set a standard for accessible, community-centered care.
