DENVER — The Colorado Health Foundation will invest $10 million over five years in The Women’s Foundation of Colorado, serving as the lead contribution to the organization’s $40 million fundraising campaign.
The money will support the Women & Girls of Color Fund, the foundation’s endowment, rapid-response grants, impact investing and annual operations.
The “Until Every Woman Thrives” campaign began in 2024 and is intended to expand the foundation’s work across Colorado’s 64 counties. The organization has raised 60% of its goal with two years remaining.
“This investment reflects our belief that when Colorado women and gender-expansive people have what they need to thrive, our whole state is stronger,” said Karen McNeil-Miller, president and CEO of The Colorado Health Foundation.
The Women’s Foundation increased grant funding through its Women & Girls of Color Fund by 40% in 2025. It also launched a statewide rapid-response grant program that distributed more than $500,000 to over 70 organizations responding to federal budget cuts and policy changes.
The investment continues a partnership between the foundations that began during the tenures of McNeil-Miller and former Women’s Foundation CEO Lauren Y. Casteel. Casteel retired from the Women’s Foundation in 2025 and now serves on The Colorado Health Foundation’s board. McNeil-Miller has announced plans to retire this year.
Founded in 1987, The Women’s Foundation of Colorado has awarded nearly $40 million in grants and supported policies including Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and paid family and medical leave program.
