Denver-based cleantech company Actuate has been named a 2026 Colorado Companies to Watch winner for its work providing building intelligence tools to operators of small and mid-sized commercial properties.
Actuate’s platform, Act Hub, uses internet-connected sensors, controls and artificial intelligence analytics to monitor and manage HVAC, refrigeration and lighting systems across multiple locations. The company focuses on commercial buildings that often lack traditional building management systems.
The company said its clients, including national quick-service restaurant franchisees and regional multi-location brands, have reported 10% to 30% lower energy costs, 20% to 30% lower maintenance costs, 40% to 60% fewer emergency service calls and 50% less downtime.
“We started Actuate because we saw an enormous, underserved market and a real chance to fix it,” said Allison Fitzpatrick, co-founder and CEO. “This award reflects the operators who trust us and the team, relentlessly focused on solving their problem.”
Actuate was founded by Fitzpatrick and Tom Fitzpatrick, who have more than 50 years of combined experience in building data, energy efficiency and commercial deployment.
The company plans to expand its sales and marketing efforts in 2026, targeting convenience stores, retail locations and automotive dealerships. It is also incorporating artificial intelligence features into its Act Hub platform to support automated building controls.
