DENVER — Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park will host the 10th annual Chelsea Hutchison Foundation Purple Duck Chase on Saturday, July 11, to raise money and awareness for families affected by epilepsy.
The event, held in partnership with the Chelsea Hutchison Foundation, includes the Purple Duck Chase, early park admission for participating families, a day at the park and an ice cream social.
The foundation was established in 2009 by Julie and Doug Hutchison in memory of their daughter, Chelsea Alice Hutchison, who died from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). The organization provides seizure movement monitoring devices, seizure-response service dogs and travel assistance for families attending epilepsy education events.
“Our partnership with the Chelsea Hutchison Foundation reflects Elitch Gardens’ commitment to supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in our community,” said Rick Howarth, general manager of Elitch Gardens. “We’re honored to celebrate the 10th year of this event.”
Community members who cannot attend may sponsor ducks in the race. Sponsorships cost $5 per duck, with discounts available for multiple entries. The first three ducks to cross the finish line will receive cash prizes.
“Epilepsy is isolating,” said Julie Hutchison, founder of the Chelsea Hutchison Foundation. “Through our programs, events and networks, we connect families to each other and to the resources they need.”
Tickets, registration information and duck sponsorships are available through the Chelsea Hutchison Foundation.
