BRIGHTON, Colo. — Goodwill of Colorado will celebrate the grand opening of its newest retail store in Brighton with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and daylong festivities on Saturday, Jan. 10.
The store is located at 1034 S. 8th Ave. The celebration will begin at 8:45 a.m. and is open to the public.
The event will include free Goodwill gift cards for the first 50 shoppers in line, prize drawings throughout the day, including new televisions, family-friendly entertainment and free refreshments.
The Brighton store is expected to create about 50 jobs in the local community. Goodwill of Colorado emphasizes fair-chance hiring, providing employment opportunities for individuals reentering the workforce or facing barriers such as prior incarceration, a transition from military service or a need to build new skills. Statewide, at least 65% of Goodwill of Colorado retail team members report facing significant barriers to employment at the time of hire.
Goodwill of Colorado President and CEO Karla Grazier said the new store will expand the organization’s mission in Brighton while supporting job training and education programs across the state.
Proceeds from the store will fund free, local programs including LIFT IT Training, BankWork$ and the Clean Tech Accelerator training program, which are designed to help Coloradans build skills and pathways to long-term employment.
As part of the grand opening celebration, Goodwill of Colorado is partnering with Giggling Life Care Farm, a local organization that brings children together to connect with animals, learn about agriculture and develop life skills such as confidence, leadership and teamwork.
From Sunday, Jan. 11, through Sunday, Jan. 18, the Brighton store will host a food drive to support the farm. Requested donations include canned green beans, corn, carrots and peas.
Goodwill of Colorado invited Brighton residents to shop and donate, noting that donated goods help create job opportunities and support workforce programs in Brighton and communities across Colorado.
