DELTA COUNTY — Micro-Grids Inc. has joined Colorado’s Rural Jump-Start program and plans to open a manufacturing facility in Delta County, state officials said Thursday.
The company manufactures outdoor battery and inverter cabinets for the solar and energy storage industry. The project is expected to create jobs and include workforce development opportunities in partnership with the Technical College of the Rockies.
Micro-Grids has developed a stand-alone, fire-resistant solar battery cabinet designed for areas prone to wildfires and power outages. The system includes thermal management aimed at improving battery performance.
“We are grateful for the Rural Jump-Start program, which provides a great opportunity for Micro-Grids as we continue growing in Delta County while working with the Technical College of the Rockies to foster engineering and manufacturing talent,” said Brison Klein, founder and CEO of Micro-Grids Inc.
The Rural Jump-Start program supports economic development and job creation in rural counties. Micro-Grids will receive $15,000 in grant funding to support its launch. Eligible employees will receive a state personal income tax exemption.
The company and the Technical College of the Rockies plan to collaborate on internship opportunities for students.
One Delta County supported the company’s application to the program.
