RK Industries plans to relocate its headquarters to Aurora in a move that’s expected to create nearly 1,800 jobs.

In Brief:
  • to relocate headquarters from Denver to Aurora
  • Move expected to create nearly 1,800 jobs over eight years
  • New 154,488-square-foot facility consolidates operations
  • Project approved for $24.4M in state job growth incentives

The new 154,488-square-foot facility will consolidate RK’s headquarters and four of its key business units — RK Industries, RK Mechanical, RK Service and RK Electrical — along with its philanthropic arm, the RK Foundation.

The move from Denver will expand the company’s physical footprint and solidify its commitment to the region.

“Relocating our headquarters to Aurora isn’t just about expanding our footprint in Colorado; it’s about expanding opportunity,” RK Industries Chief Operating Officer Jon Kinning said in a statement. “We’re projecting to create over 1,700 good-paying jobs over the next eight years, investing heavily in workforce training and strengthening the communities where our employees live and work.”
RK Industries, a homegrown Colorado company since 1995, chose Aurora despite competition from sites in Texas and Arizona.

The company said its strong presence in the state, including two established facilities in Aurora,  and its deep roots in the community, with nearly half of its current workforce already living in the city, were key factors in the decision.

The expansion is the largest job-creation project to be approved for a Tax Credit by the state’s Commission in 2025. The $24.4 million in incentives are contingent on RK Industries meeting specific job creation and salary targets.

“Colorado’s well-connected sector is a key driver of our economy, and RK Industries’ expansion in Aurora will significantly strengthen these industries while creating valuable jobs in this advanced manufacturing and skilled trade sector,” said Eve Lieberman, executive director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

The relocation and expansion are viewed as a testament to the collaborative efforts of local and state partners, who provided a concierge-level approach to the site selection and negotiation process.

Aurora Economic Development Council President and CEO Wendy Mitchell said her office supported RK Industries every step of the way.

“This relocation and expansion reflects how we were able to match RK Industries’ business needs with Aurora’s strengths and highlights,” Mitchell said.
