Legendary attorney Norman Brownstein helped put Colorado on the national power map. Since opening a Washington, D.C., office in 1996, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP, has topped the national rankings for lobbying revenue several times in no small part due to Brownstein’s efforts, and the firm is known as one of the nation’s true government relations powerhouses.

The bipartisan duo of Senators Hank Brown and Ted Kennedy nicknamed Brownstein, now the Denver-based firm’s chairman, earned the nickname of “America’s 101st Senator” due to his work with leaders all over the political spectrum. His lobbying work has helped shape tax, telecommunications, and healthcare policies for more than 40 years, earning him National Law Journal’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2022.

For the Power List, Brownstein highlighted his work culminating in a 2019 executive order that formally applies the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism to colleges and universities.
