AURORA, Colo. — Slick City Action Park, an indoor dry-slide and air court park designed for all ages, will open this month at the Southlands shopping center in Aurora.
The 33,000-square-foot facility, called Slick City Southlands, will feature the company’s patented dry slides, air courts for basketball and dodgeball and several new attractions. It will be the first franchise-owned Slick City location in Colorado, following the opening of a corporate-owned site in Lakewood in 2022.
Franchise owner Nick Meldrum said he and his wife discovered the concept during a family visit to another location and wanted to bring the experience to their community. Meldrum’s brother-in-law, Ashley Brown, will serve as general manager of the Aurora park.
“Our family instantly loved Slick City, and we knew right away it was something special we wanted to bring to Aurora,” Meldrum said. “This is more than an entertainment park. It’s a place where families can spend time together and kids can be inspired while parents relax and enjoy themselves.”
The Aurora park will feature new attractions not found in Lakewood, including the Twin Turbo, Twister, Hyper Loop, and Riptide slides, as well as a junior slide area for children 5 and under. The venue will include a café serving pizza, snacks, ice crea, and hot food, along with reservable party spaces and private rooms. Alcohol service for guests 21 and older is expected to begin in November.
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in St. Louis and Nashville, Slick City operates a growing network of indoor parks featuring waterless slides and other gravity-based attractions. CEO and founder Bron Launsby and co-founder Gary Schmidt, who also founded Slick Slide Co., developed the technology behind the company’s signature attractions, designed to deliver the speed and excitement of a waterslide without the water.
