Becky’s 35-year career at Design Workshop is a testament to visionary leadership and a deep commitment to her profession and community. Rising from business manager to CEO, Becky guided Design Workshop’s transformation from a small two-office firm to a national leader with seven offices, 175 employees and annual revenue topping $30 million. Her leadership helped position the firm among the top five landscape architecture and planning firms in the country.
Becky has been a pioneer in shaping mountain resort communities, leading landmark projects from North Lake Tahoe to Whistler and Andorra. Her master plans have balanced economic growth with sustainability and community needs, setting new standards in the industry. She also championed Design Workshop’s transition to a 100 percent employee-owned company through an ESOP, fostering a culture of shared ownership and securing the firm’s long-term success.
Her impact extends far beyond business strategy. She created internal platforms like The Hallway newsletter to strengthen collaboration and launched Design Workshop’s annual Day of Service. Under her guidance, the firm’s foundation supports under-resourced communities with design assistance and education. Her leadership helped earn the 2024 ASLA National Community Service Award and numerous industry honors for the firm’s projects.
Becky is dedicated to lifting others up. She founded a Women’s Roundtable, mentors emerging professionals and has helped increase women’s membership in the Urban Land Institute. Her service includes roles with the Aspen Valley Land Trust, the Denver Commission for People with Disabilities and the National Sports Center for the Disabled.
