The Larimer County Fleet Campus in Loveland, Colorado, completed in October 2024, is a 52,500-square-foot public facility designed to modernize and streamline County fleet operations. The project features administration offices, conference rooms, service bays for heavy and light-duty equipment, a fueling station and specialized areas for the Road and Bridge Department and sign shop. Designed by D2C Architects and engineered by PEC and RJA, the campus integrates pre-engineered metal building components with structural steel, presenting unique design and coordination challenges. FCI Constructors led construction and collaborated closely with Larimer County staff, Gregory Electric, Connell Resources and multiple County departments to overcome long lead times, custom equipment needs, and site-specific logistics.
Innovative techniques such as building information modeling helped resolve system clashes before construction began, saving time and reducing costs. Weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors ensured accurate installation of critical systems including mechanical, electrical, solar, hazardous materials storage and emergency power. The new facility replaces an outdated 1950s-era structure, improving maintenance efficiency and service delivery to the community. By significantly reducing fleet turnaround time, the campus enhances public service responsiveness. Safety remained a top priority throughout the build, with rigorous planning, orientations and site-specific protocols led by FCI to ensure a safe and successful project delivery.
