Then an emergency paramedic, Blake Evans got into woodworking in 2021. “I was clearing out my garage and picked up a hobby, and then it grew pretty rapidly,” he says.
Evans started making furniture and housewares for friends and family, then branched into wooden cases and kitchen goods like trivets and cutting boards. Over the next few years, he upgraded from hand tools to automated CNC machines as Evans made Kineo Mountain Woodsmithing his full-time job.
Kineo’s bestselling products in 2025 were wooden Santa ornaments made from American hardwoods. The company also takes custom orders and contract manufacturing work. “We handle everything from the design to the production to the retail packaging, to the shipping,” says Evans, who is looking to grow his operation from a couple of part-timers and move into a larger facility in 2026.
