Jason Faerman and Justin Fuller co-founded Yakoda Supply in 2017 after hitting it off during a fly-fishing trip to Wyoming. “We became buddies and started fishing together a lot,” says Fuller. “We both had some ideas percolating around that we thought could make our fly-fishing experience better.”
At the top of the list, the Gear Transport is the 95-liter bag that launched the company. “It’s really just a method to organize your things,” says Faerman. “It’s a grab-and-go bug-out kit.”
The catalog has expanded to flies and apparel as Yakoda became full-time for both Faerman and Fuller by 2022. All of the company’s sewn products are made by a contract manufacturer in Boulder County, and Faerman designs the flies, which are available by subscription and tied in Montana.
“We’ve done everything ourselves,” says Faerman. “We haven’t taken a penny from anyone outside of the business, and we’ve grown it really according to customer demands and in a really holistic way.”
