Arvada Aquatics Center

The Arvada Aquatics Center, completed in October 2024, stands as one of the largest natatoriums in Colorado and a new benchmark for aquatic facilities in the region. The 50,000-square-foot complex features a 50-meter competition pool with adjustable bulkheads, a secondary 25-yard pool for general use and a diving well outfitted with platforms and springboards unmatched in the state outside of the Olympic Training Center. Built in collaboration with Jeffco Public Schools and Apex Park and Recreation District, the center supports both community recreation and elite competition.
Designed by OLC and engineered by firms including Counsilman-Hunsaker, AE Design Group and The Ballard Group, the project required extraordinary precision. Saunders Construction employed 3-D laser scanning to certify international specifications, while subcontractor Sunbelt Rentals erected a large scaffold “dance floor” system, one of the biggest in the state, to ensure worker safety and efficiency above the pools.
Pursuing LEED Silver certification, the center integrates sustainable systems that reduce water use by 40% and energy costs by 20%. Inclusive locker rooms, EV charging stations, and advanced filtration reflect a focus on accessibility and environmental stewardship. With support from the City of Arvada and design consultants like Martin/Martin and DHM Design, the center is already transforming the aquatic experience for residents and athletes statewide.
