DENVER — Housed, Working & Healthy, a Denver nonprofit, plans a $2 million expansion to increase capacity for its culinary workforce training program as demand rises.
The expansion includes a new 6,000-square-foot facility in the Swansea neighborhood. The organization expects to serve about 200 individuals annually, up from current levels. Program demand exceeds capacity, with more than 50 applications per month for the seven available spots and wait times of up to 4 months.
To support the expansion, the nonprofit will host a fundraising event, Spring Cocktails & Conversation, on April 23 at Mile High Station in Denver. Backed by the Morgridge Family Foundation and other donors, the event includes a $75,000 challenge match, with new contributions matched dollar-for-dollar.
Housed, Working & Healthy combines culinary job training with mental health services and trauma-informed care. The organization reports that 95% of participants secure employment, 78% maintain long-term employment and 85% report maintained or improved self-efficacy.
“This expansion allows us to reach more individuals who are ready to rebuild their lives and achieve long term independence,” said founder and executive director Brad Volin.
The April 23 event will include a reception, dinner prepared by program graduates and participant stories.
